Money by Jumsoft App Reviews

Phantom Numbers, Errors, Syncing Problems…Oh My

I could not be more disappointed in a app…particularly at the price. After three months I’m giving up and buying something else. Balancing accounts is a nightmare. Beginning and ending balances are on the penny, but the app tells you there’s a difference and you cannot reconcile to it. Entering transactions is awkward. Syncing between devices is hit and miss and confusing. Just spent two hours screwing around with something that should take 5 minutes. What a waste of time and money!

It’s really slow, can’t handle 2 normal lists..

The software is painfully slow.. I liked the design, but unfortunately it can’t handle 2 lists simultaneously, and startup time is really bad..

Probably the best current finance app

Like a lot of reviewers for previous versions here, I was looking for a OS X-compatible replacement for Quicken. Money by Jumsoft gives you that for sure, together with the Dropbox-syncable complementary apps for iOS. Syncing among the three apps has been really good since the last update (admittedly, there’d been a few hiccups before). There is not quite the number of features that Quicken has, but as a tradeoff you get polished interface and great usability. Minor quibble, the report design could be better. It takes a while to get used to the horizontal layout, and easier navigation would be a plus.

Good, solid, with 2 reservations . . .

This is the same review I posted for an earlier version, and the things that ‘bother’ me are still here. "Really, I like the software; it feels good and is easy to use. But . . . Having to select the date and then the “Next Transaction Number” is for me an inconvenience; if some users want to do this manually, OK, but there should (at least) be an option to have both of these automatic. And . . . Exporting data to do more extensive reporting is prohibitively cumbersome. Nevertheless I’ll stick with the app for now . . . "

Just stop!!

My choice of home finance application

I have been using this application for a while. A very nice personal financing application, it has all that you need for personal finances. Most of it I like Dropbox sync feature, it helps me sync all my data between my Mac, iPad and iPhone. Love it ! I can definitely recommend this app to everyone who wants track and manage finances information.

Amazing finance app

Great for tracking expenses, great for budgeting, it has a very straightforward interface and looks good. I personally prefer entering most expenses on my iPhone, syncing with the desktop app and later checking the budget and running a couple of reports to get the full view. Fair to say Money is doing an excellent job in terms of these functionalities.

Best Accounting Software I have come across

I have been looking for a solid accounting software that is also motivating me to work with! Meaning not a dry b/w DOS based grafic software. I gave Money a chance since it just looked so appealing and the reviews seemed upbeat. It took me a moment to dig through since Im not an accountant and started to enjoy my month end accountings. End of last year I had some troubles with the new Syncing method. I wrote the help desk and received solid answer that immediatly solved the problem. Im now using this software for my 2 companies as well as for my private accountings, even on the go on my iPhone. Never had so much fun doing financials. Highly recommendable

Worth the money

The program is easy to install and use and has most common features. I like it.

Foursquare feature must die!

the program is alright. Pretty easy to navigate. But I see no way to turn off the “foursquare” feature that searches for venders locally. It slows down the application considerably, and cannot be disabled that I can tell. I hate it.

Still too buggy

I just got a new Macbook Pro and tried to transfer my Money data over from my old MBP. The export file was all screwed up when I imported it and was randomly putting category text in number fields, as well as wrong dates. I tried several times and it never imported right. Money 3 worked flawlessly, but Money 4 has a been a huge headache with data loss and more ever since it came out. Sadly I’m going to cut my losses and buy some other software or just use a spreadsheet.

Great, easy, pratical, and great support!

Great, easy, pratical, and great support! And so much cheaper!!!!

Stinks!

I have used Microsoft Money & Quicken, which I’m still using because this app is no good. When I close the app it opens like I’m starting fresh. I set up where I want the backup to go & linked it to my dropbox acct. But it still opens a fresh acct. like I just started. I also tried to transfer my data from Quicken but that was also a joke. Entering transactions should be easy & fluid, especially if it is a recurring one. But not with this app, it is a project for every transaction. I feel sorry for anyone who paid $38.99. Lucky for me it just cost me $5 bucks. Very Disappionted!

I had been reluctant to upgrade to this version as I had been using the previous version which worked flawlessly since Jan 2011. Unfortunately, I did finally update and have regretted it ever since. It began with a complete loss of data during the update, followed by the experience of the new transaction entry layout which far less user friendly than before. Then after setting up all of my accounts again and finally becoming comfortable with the new updated app I powered up my laptop one morning, opened up the app and again all of my data was gone. Thats it for me, Im done with this app. Good luck to anyone else thats wants to try it.

Great Job

Thank you

Bummer

I really like that I can access this from my iPhone, iPad, and Mac, but every time they do an update I end up losing data, getting duplicate data, or having some strange glitch between the different devices. I generally like the interface, but at this point I feel like I’m being punished for doing the very thing this was supposed to enable for me: Manage and watch my finances closely. When they switched from iCloud to Dropbox I lost almost everything and sent a request for support with no response. I want to support small businesses so wish I could endorse this product, but buyer beware. If my mood right now—facing my sixth or seventh loss of data in 1.5 years—was accurately reflected in the rating, it would be 1 star, but like I said I generally like the interface . . . when it works.

My goto app for finance

I love this app. For years I relied on spreadsheets to do this and that worked great but this app makes it a lot easier to do and the scheduled transactions is awesome.

I’m sure it has its place…

I’m sure this is a great piece of software but none of my banks support the OFX format for automatic import of the banking information per online banking. And, after I manually imported the information after downloading it from the banking website into Money, the numbers did not add up. I pre-scheduled all my payments — simply for budget purposes — and nothing popped up. I’ve benn reading the manual and, to be honest, I just don’t have the time to deal with this software; for me it’s too time consuming to learn it. I was hoping for a simple point-and-click/import banking information/schedule transaction so I can always check my account’s standing on- and offline but that did not work out as planned. Again, I am sure this is a great piece of software but I am very reluctant at this point to even keep it on my Mac because It would take me an entire weekend to figure out. I think a “huge” disappointment is the website because the support section has not answered a single questions. The manual does but it’s about an inch thick when printed.

What Quicken Should Have Been

Loved using Quicken for the Mac when it was relevant. Money replaces that app no problem and comes with DropBox, iPhone and iPad syncing. Migrating data to my new laptop was as easy as AirDroping my Money file from one machine to the next. Great App!

Suggestion!

Hello, I like this app and I use it to track all my expences and budgets. I will like to have date dividers and to be able to organize at my wish the order of the transactions on a single day. Best, MM
