Money by Jumsoft App Reviews

great app

Looks very promising, especially with the cloud syncing capability. Although the app does have some minor issues, responses from the support have been very prompt so far, and I cant make myself give fewer than 5 stars to this very solid app.

Money by Jumsoft is great

Ive watched Money mature over the years. It is now a very solid app and has some outstanding features that others lack, such as Dropbox integration. The interface is streamlined, uncluttered, and nice to look at. As many apps, Money sometimes does have issues and bugs, but the support is very responsive, and bugs are usually fixed very quickly.

Could sync works so far

But I’ve never had full confidence in Money’s sync. Watch your totals carefully and double check before and after syncing. Otherwise great product

Balances not shown, payer/payee entries are missing

I just updated and now my balances don’t show up in my accounts. I scrolled up through old entries and many entries are missing the names of the transactions. This makes it competely useless. If this is not fixed soon I will be asking for a refund.

I ran the latest mac os update and money and now my running account balances are no longer there. f

Please fix this problem. The program is borken by either the money update or the os update. Either way it has to be fixed

Don’t Update! Latest update has bugs

What happened to the balances in all my accounts? The latest update has hidden these. I recommend no one purchasing or updating the software until this problem is fixed. Version 4.5.1 has bugs. Hopefully this will be resolved quickly.

Money was good until latest release

When a dev team decides that basic functionality like calculating a balance isn’t worth fixing before release, and doesn’t set a timeline for it afterwards, it’s a good sign to stop using the software. I’ve been using Money since… version 2 I think? It’s been a great piece of software, until the latest release. Moving on to something else.

Dropbox Sync Works Well (sometimes slowly)

Sometimes it takes a while for all my devices to be updated, but when they are, the sync has been accurate. I’ve been watching the transactions closely to be sure it’s not erasing transactions. No problems so far. The only issue I have is that it takes a while for the other device to be updated after inputing a transaction, unless you manually tell it to sync on the iPhone. I haven’t found that option on the computer app. I love the program. I’ve been using it for a year with no problems (minus the iCloud sync fiasco of several months ago). I love the budgeting part of the program. I always know how much money I have left to spend in whatever area. I do recommend this program! It’s pretty too.

Most easy to use for my personal finances

I was struggling to follow up my expenses for many years. If you keep your accounts few and follow basic budgeting principles, this is the first app that is really helping me to keep me expenses. You can split your expense by categories. I am using less categories and using tags to follow them in detail. I do find budgets and report handy. This app is uncluttered and the interface is easy to use. It works well for me. Some features I would like to see on the upgrades: - If you budget sub categories, sub totals for related category should be automatic. - Please add Export Reports to Numbers

does not do what you need

the system locks up everytime it goes to reports the reports are not very handy, records every payee even if you have not used for 5 years, does not just list ones that have events in range reviewing the balance does not stay up to date

Works well - just be patient on large accounts

I finally migrated over to this app from Quicken 2007 because of lack of support from Intuit. My account that I transferred was very large, and at first I thought this program had a bug but I figured out I wasn’t patient enough. The data all came through sorted correctly and it is quite easy to use. Not quite as intuitive as some programs, but that is probably just trying to teach an old dog new tricks. We’ll see in the coming weeks. Tech support seems to be good, hope I don’t have to use them too much.

Once again, more updates and more bugs

Jumsofts quality control issues are a mystery to me (Im not talking about obscure bugs—there are often bugs that break major features when updates roll out). For example, after I try to “Save in DropBox” to set up DropBox syncing, I get the message "Document cannot be saved in Dropbox. Try again later.” It was working before, and now that’s the only help I get. The only reason I stick with it despite its abysmal reliability is that the interface is exactly what I need, and WHEN IT WORKS, it’s great. But you can never count on it. It’s been like this for years—I really have no idea why they don’t fix these issues. If the performance issues (on basic features) can be addressed, I’ll happily update my rating.

Disappointed

I have used this App for several years. I have it on three devices and use it regularly. However, it seems that whenever I get notified that there is an update, a chill settles over me. Finally every thing works great; syncs have the bugs worked out and I become App-dependent. Then along comes the bright idea to tie it in with Dropbox. Now I can’t sync, I have to update the data each device individually and I am frustrated. I am thinking of searching for another App. Why the Dropbox option I can’t understand. If it isn’t broke - why fix it?

Awesome…

Totally simplifies expense tracking and budgeting! It wont do any complicated forecasting, investment tracking and so on, but its very customizable and easy to use for everyday stuff. Love it! One of the most useful apps out here.

New to Apple

I used MS Money for over 20 years and have just rescently switched to Apple. I am very pleased with the app and dropbox to the App on my iPad. There have been a few bumps. For example Money always saved and asked if I wanted to backup upon closing. It was a shock to realize that several hours of work had to be redone because I failed to save before closing the program. That would be a nice little fix to save new users from time loss. Also I have not been able to discover if it is possible to modify the check print feature. They print a little off but are not unusable. I would highly recommend this App

An ok glass of water in a really subpar, low-expectation desert.

All in all, it does what it needs to do: it helps you manage your books. Is it rich in crazy features? No. Is it making accounting an easier, simplified, less agonizing process? No. Is it changing the way people do finances? No. This basically fills the void from Intuit’s lack of interest in making OSX software, and little else. Thats admirable enough I suppose— that’s what we’ve needed. The interface is nothing special and certain actions and flyout menus can be frustratingly slow/laggy (note: I’m on a brand-spanking-new quad core), and the application can store its documents in the cloud but doesn’t support attaching files from the cloud (invoices, receipts, etc.), kind of ruining the allure. Are there improvements to be made? Absolutely— but at least it gets the job done.

Money isnt worth the Money!

Worst application available. I used quickin for years. Support is terrible. Sent e-mails back and forth with little help. Doesnt synch with Bank of America without a monthly fee. Save your Money for something else. Going to try MoneyDance next.

It’s Good But With Glitches

Overall i like the program, however there are a few things that annoy the daylights out of me. My files keep duplicating, ending up in the trash, and the transaction function arbitrarily closes. Little annoyances, but not enough to move to another product.

Still has Dropbox problems

A generally good app for managing your money. Major problem in being able to sync data with IOS app. Use of Dropbox for syncing does not work, so there is no way to sync between Mac and IOS.

I tried to like this app. I really tried...

In a previous review of Money I defended Jumsoft and the application both. At the end of it all, however, I have simply given up. It took me a bit longer than most to come around to the fact that the more things change with this application the more they simply stay the same. Problems of long standing (sync issues, location services and others) perpetuate themselves from one version release to the next, and, in some instances, new ones are introduced. I do not know what the issues are at Jumsoft, but it is obvious that listening to customer feedback is very low on the list of priorities. All of the complaining, patience and expectations essentially result in no real changes. The entire thing is yet but another example of a developer releasing an application before it is truly ready and then expecting customers to serve as beta testers. Since the customers have to pay for the previledge of doing what the Jumsoft developers should haved done in the first place it is only reasonable to expect that the developers listen to the feedback and respond accordingly. There is little to no evidence that this is to ever be the case. To that end, I have thrown in the towel and moved on to other means of keeping track of my finance needs. When you and your product are not the only game in town how can you not realize that winning over customers boils down to actually competing and putting out a better result? Sigh...
